Louisville Water Grows Customer Assistance Program to over $100,000 Annually

Tuesday January 22, 2013

The Board of Water Works, the governing body for Louisville Water, has approved $99,512 in 2013 for the Customer Assistance Program to help low income customers pay their water and sewer bills.

Louisville Water funds the program with 10% of the revenues from its water-line protection program, a voluntary offering where customers can sign up for coverage in the event of a private water or sewer line issue.

Louisville Water works with three organizations in Jefferson, Bullitt and Oldham Counties to administer the program: Association of Community Ministries in Jefferson, Oldham County Chapter of the American Red Cross and Shepherd's Shelter in Bullitt County.

The Customer Assistance Program began in 2010 and Louisville Water has steadily increased funding each year. HomeServe, the company that administers the water-line protection program plans to contribute an additional $12,000 bringing the total amount available to just over $110,000 in 2013.
