Councilwoman Cheri Bryant Hamilton invites residents in the area to the next District 5 Neighborhood Advisory Committee meeting to learn more about healthy programs and initiatives in West Louisville.

“We have invited Dr. LaQuandra Nesbitt, Director of the Metro Public Health and Wellness Department and the Center for Health Equity to provide an update on health issues in the city,” says Hamilton.

Dr. Nesbitt will focus on grants and departmental initiatives, policies and partnerships working to reduce health inequities, chronic disease in West Louisville and what residents can do to promote healthier lifestyles for children and adults.

Theresa Zawacki, the city’s Food Policy Advisory within the Department of Economic Growth and Innovation (formerly the Economic Development Department) will also be on hand. She returns to continue a discussion of food and garden initiatives and the economic opportunities in the Portland Neighborhood through the Neighborhood Revitalization and Stabilization program funding.

The Advisory Committee will meet at the Yearlings Club beginning at 7:00pm on Monday, February 20th. The Yearlings Club is located 4309 West Broadway.

“I want to encourage everyone to come out and get involved in what we are doing in District 5 to have a healthier community,” says Hamilton.
