Public Health and Wellness Offers Free Diabetes Classes

The Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness will hold a series of four free classes for individuals interested in learning about and managing diabetes. Classes begin Tuesday, January 10 at the Bon Air branch of the Louisville Free Public Library at 2816 Del Rio Place.
Classes are free and attendance at the entire series of four classes is encouraged. All classes begin at 1:00 p.m. and end at 3:30 p.m. Class size is limited so please call to make a reservation. Phone 574-6663 for reservations or for more information.
The class schedule is as follows:
January 10, Class 1, What is Diabetes? Monitoring, Nutrition Basics, What is a carbohydrate?
January 17, Class 2, Dealing with sick days and acute complications, Medications, Carbohydrate counting – putting it into practice.
January 24, Class 3, Staying healthy and taking care of yourself; Carbohydrate counting; Fats, sodium and label reading.
January 31, Class 4, Taking care of your feet, Weight loss and maintenance, Exercise, Healthy coping.
