A popular Saturday get together returns to the Valley Station area on June 4th when the Southwest Farmer’s Market opens for business.
“This has been a very successful venture not only for our local farmers and growers but for consumers who want fresh fruits and vegetables.” says Councilman Bob Henderson (D-14). “It is just like the good old days of going to market.”
The Southwest Farmer’s Market begins at 9:00am and runs until 1:00pm. There is a new location at Valley High School. Due to the 26 million dollar renovation at the school, the Farmer’s Market has moved from the south parking lot to the north parking lot. Valley High School is located at 10200 Dixie Highway.
If any local farmer would like to participate in the Farmer’s Market, the State Agriculture Department requires all products be grown in Kentucky. If you would like to be a vendor, call 502-447-6809 and speak to Barbara Gagel.
“I want everyone to come out and help our local growers,” says Henderson. “In these tight economic times they could use they support and you might find some good deals right here in Metro Louisville.”
The market runs through mid October.
