Metro Parks Hosting Public Meeting For McNeely Lake Park Master Plan
Wednesday September 7, 2011
Metro Parks has initiated a Master Plan project for McNeely Lake Park. The project will entail plans for the future development and enhancement of the park. The first public meeting for McNeely Lake Park is scheduled on September 13, 2011, at 6:30 pm at Wilt Elementary School (6700 Price Lane, 40229).
The McNeely Lake Park master plan project is broken up into three phases. The first phase will create awareness about the project and include the collection of existing site inventory and document natural and cultural resources, concluding with a public meeting. During the second phase of the master plan, a conceptual design with alternatives will be produced and explored as second public meeting is held. Finally, the preliminary master plan will be presented at a third public meeting with the outcomes leading to the final master plan document.
McNeely Lake Park is intended to be a key bicycle and pedestrian connection along the Louisville Loop, as the 100-mile shared use path departs from the Floyds Fork corridor and continues west toward the Jefferson Memorial Forest. It offers recreational and alternative transportation routes for cyclists, joggers and walkers. Sections of the Loop will also accommodate horseback riders.
The community is encouraged to attend the public meeting for the McNeely Lake Park master plan on September 13, 2011, at 6:30 pm at Wilt Elementary School (6700 Price Lane, 40229).
