Councilman Tom Owen will host the first of several coffees for residents of District 8 with his new “Talk With Tom” series set to kick off on Saturday, March 19th.

“Last year as President of the Metro Council, I spent a lot of time getting to know the issues and concerns my colleagues were dealing with across Metro Louisville,” says Owen. “This year, I want to focus on my constituents back home in my district.”

The first “Talk With Tom” will be held at Heine Brothers Coffee at the Douglass Loop, 2200 Bardstown Road from 9:00am to 11:00am.

“With a new mayor, an energized council, and some improvement in Metro revenues, it is important to hear from the folks at the grass roots level,” says Owen. “I would like their thoughts on where the city is headed, as well as what they think we as Council members should be paying attention to in the coming months. I’m also looking for suggestions on how to improve life in the 8th district.”

These coffees are yet another way Owen tries to reach out to residents. Every summer, he pedals his bicycle in front of every residence in his district offering to stop by citizen’s homes for a “house call.”

“Sometimes a conversation over a cup of coffee can be an effective way for citizens to express their concerns to an elected official.”
