With the Fourth of July close at hand, Councilman Rick Blackwell invited a special guest to come to June’s District 12 Dialogue with important information about fireworks safety.
“The Metro Council is currently dealing with a new state law on the sale of fireworks,” says Blackwell. “It is important for the community to understand that while fireworks are fun for the holiday they can also be dangerous if not handled properly.”
Major Connie Sparks, Fire Marshall of the Pleasure Ridge Park Fire Department is the invited guest for the event. She will discuss firework safety along with other topics relating to public safety and fire prevention.
The meeting will be held at the Southwest Government Center, 7219 Dixie Highway beginning at 7:00pm.
Joining Major Sparks will be other representatives of Metro Government including Metro Police, MSD, and IPL. A representative of Congressman John Yarmuth’s office will also be on hand at the meeting.
