Once again, several members of the Louisville Metro Council, along with PRIDE Inc and the New Jerusalem Church will host the Annual Seniors Thanksgiving Day Dinner on Thursday, November 26th.
“This event is a time of fellowship and a chance to help take care of those seniors citizens in our community who may not have a family dinner to share on Thanksgiving,” says Metro Council president David Tandy (D-4).
The dinner will take place at the Presbyterian Community Center, 701 South Hancock Street from 12:00pm to 2:00pm. It is free to persons over the age of 50.
“When you consider the economic changes that have taken place in these last few years, it is hard to say just how our local seniors have been affected,” says Councilwoman Barbara Shanklin (D-2). “This is one way to make sure they have a good meal and see the caring spirit of the community.”
Joining Tandy and Shanklin as sponsors of the Dinner are Council members Judith Green (D-1), Mary C. Woolridge (D-3), Cheri Bryant Hamilton (D-5), George Unseld (D-6) and Dan Johnson (D-21).
“We have a wonderful group of volunteers who help us every year with the dinner,” says Unseld. “We are thankful that these folks take the time to care for others who otherwise might spend this holiday alone.”
The Annual Thanksgiving Dinner will also feature entertainment and door prizes for those seniors who participate.
