Wednesday’s Meeting of the Metro Council’s Accountability and Audit Committee Cancelled

Louisville, KY – The Wednesday, August 13, 2008 meeting of the Metro Council’s Government Accountability and Audit Committee has been cancelled. The meeting was to continue the investigation of the use of Federal Funds within Metro Government’s Department for Housing and Family Services. The committee had planned to receive testimony from Housing and Family Services Director Kimberly Bunton and Metro Government’s Internal Auditor, Mike Norman.

Neither speaker was able to attend Wednesday’s meeting following Ms. Bunton’s resignation as Director of the Metro Housing and Family Services Department after an investigation by the Courier-Journal uncovered over more than $2,000 in low-income assistance was awarded for her mother. Metro Government’s Internal Auditor, who is investigating of the department, has also requested that his testimony be delayed until his investigation is complete.

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Government Accountability and Audit Committee is scheduled for Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at 3:30 p.m. in the Metro Council Chambers of City Hall (601 West Jefferson Street, 3rd Floor).
