Hoping to underscore the need for safe, stable, affordable housing, 4th District Councilman Willie Bright will host "Boxville" in the parking lot of his supper club, the Velvet Rose, from October 14-16. The Velvet Rose is located at 519 E. Jefferson St.
The display, sponsored by the Hunger and Housing Coalition of Kentucky to highlight the plight of homelessness in the Louisville Metro area, will feature boxes decorated as houses and large banners displaying facts about hunger, homelessness and the need for more affordable housing.
The boxes will be decorated by children and adults from New Directions Transitional Housing Services; Project Women; Home of the Innocents; YMCA Safe Place; Metro Louisville Human Services; Wayside Mission; and InterLink, as well as by students from Byck Elementary School and Presentation Academy.
Youth groups, churches and other organizations are invited to take self-guided tours through the exhibit.
