Louisville – One of Louisville’s oldest and proudest neighborhoods will carry on a great summer tradition this weekend. Councilman David James (D-6) will join many others on Saturday, August 25th for the annual California Community Day.
“The California Neighborhood will come together on Saturday for fun, music and a chance for residents to sit back and enjoy an August weekend as they get to know one another,” says James. “I am honored to be a sponsor of such a special day for the people of the California Neighborhood.”
Musical entertainment at California Community Day will get underway at California Park, 1104 South 16th Street, from 5:00 pm until 9:00pm.
This year’s festivities include gospel music provided by T&E Gospel Choir and acoustic set from local star Kimberly Coleman. The headliner will be The Band Unlimited – a local musical group favored throughout the community. All events are free and open to the public.
California Community Day will have fun activities for the kids and families with inflatable games, basketball and tennis available.
“This neighborhood continues to work to make the area a safer place to live and raise children. It is partnering with me in our “No More Red Dots” campaign of community intervention to prevent violence,” says James. “The people of this neighborhood invite everyone to come out and join them for this event,”
