Louisville – Councilman David James (D-6) is inviting residents of the California Neighborhood to a special Neighborhood Conversation on Saturday, April 19th at Victory Park.

“This is an opportunity to bring together the people who live in California as a way of introducing new residents to those who have lived in the area for many years,” says James. “We want to show them how they can work together and what is available to help them maintain strong ties in the community.”

Joining Councilman James will be Gwendolyn Kelly who lives in the neighborhood and Lisa Dettlinger of the Center for Neighborhoods. The purpose of the meeting is to begin a series of community conversations and activities sponsored by the Councilman and coordinated by the Center for Neighborhoods.

The meeting will take place at the Victory Park Shelter located at 1051 S. 23rd Street, near the corner of 23rd and Kentucky Streets. It begin at 10:00am and last until 12:00pm.

“The purpose here is to bring people together and let them know how they can enhance and engage others in taking an active role in making this historic neighborhood stronger,” says James. “The best thing for any area is to know the people who live there but more importantly listen to their concerns. We have the resources to help them make a difference.”
