CoventryCares™ of Kentucky announced today that it has chosen Louisville, Kentucky, as the headquarters for its operations. Last week, Coventry received notification of an award from Kentucky to provide services for the Commonwealth’s Medicaid program in seven of the program’s eight regions. Establishing the new CoventryCares™ headquarters will bring nearly 120 high-quality jobs to the city of Louisville.
“A local community-based headquarters is central to Coventry’s commitment to provide the best possible service to meet the health care needs of the communities in which we operate,” said Claudia Bjerre, acting chief executive officer of CoventryCares™ of Kentucky. “We are grateful to Mayor Greg Fischer for welcoming us to Louisville. We’re excited to join the Louisville community, which is known around the world as a center of excellence for health care, for its high caliber, talented workforce and for its reputation as one of the top cities in America to live and work.”
“Having Coventry as part of Louisville’s corporate community adds yet another dimension to our city’s growing lifelong wellness and aging care industry,” said Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer. “Coventry is a growing and dynamic company and the city is glad to welcome it as our newest employer.”
“Our depth of experience with state Medicaid programs has proven that operating locally helps us deliver high quality results by establishing strong relationships with the state’s provider community, including physicians, specialists, hospitals and clinics, and expanding the options available to Medicaid recipients,” added Ms. Bjerre.
CoventryCares™ has already taken steps to build the infrastructure necessary, including provider networks, health information technology, and other services, to fulfill readiness requirements and enroll beneficiaries. Kentucky’s Medicaid managed care program is set to begin Oct. 1, 2011.
CoventryCares™ of Kentucky is seeking to fill about 120 new jobs in the Louisville area. Qualified candidates will have experience in health care management, hospital and provider contracting, provider relations, nursing (telephonic case management, utilization management, and quality improvement), finance and accounting, administrative support, community outreach and member education, credentialing, regulatory compliance, and appeals. “My primary focus in expanding managed care in Medicaid was to ensure improved health care outcomes at a lower cost for taxpayers,” Gov. Steve Beshear said. “The influx of nearly 550 new jobs as a result of those contracts is a great added benefit for our state. We're excited that Coventry is moving quickly to set up their Louisville headquarters and to hire 120 Kentuckians to support this new endeavor.”
