Councilwoman Green to reward fifth graders who know their US Constitution

Thursday February 26, 2009

For Immediate release:
Majority Caucus
Louisville Metro Council
Contract: Tony Hyatt 574-4137/526-3622

Over the next several weeks, Councilwoman Judith Green Will be checking out some District 1 schools to see how well the fifth grade class knows the US Constitution. If they do, the class will be treated to a pizza party.

“We began this effort last year when many fifth graders were studying the Constitution for the CATS test,” says Green. “I think this is a fun incentive to see what they have learned.”

Green will be heading to five schools in the district. The fifth grade class of each school will get pizza if students can recite the Preamble to the Constitution.

Here is a listing of schools that the Councilwoman will visit:

Brandeis Elementary Friday, February 27th

John F. Kennedy Montessori Friday, March 6th

Wellington Elementary Friday, March 20th

Carter Traditional Elementary Thursday, March 26th

Crums Lane Elementary Friday, March 27th

“I am looking forward to talking with the fifth graders and their teachers to see how well the school year is going,” says Green. “We are going to have some fun.”
