Metro Parks, MSD to partner on work along Beargrass Creek
Thursday November 13, 2008
An effort to create enhanced wetlands along Beargrass Creek may impact users of the Beargrass Creek Greenway
trail over the next few weeks. The 1.3-mile paved off-road path for pedestrians and cyclists connects the intersection of Grinstead Drive and Lexington Road to Locust Street near Spring Street.
While the path will remain open during most of the project, path users are encouraged to exercise caution near the Lexington Road entrance. The path may close temporarily for one or two days before the end of November, in which case cyclists may travel along Lexington Road to Spring Street as a detour.
The project is a partnership between Metro Parks and MSD, and it builds upon volunteer work performed earlier this year by students from Male High School. The work should improve animal habitat and stormwater runoff retention.
Any impact on path users will end by December 1, although the project will continue through Spring 2009.
