In the next two to three years, construction is set to begin on a new 40,000 square foot, state of the art Southwest Regional Library. The project is currently in the design phase and Library officials have announced three public hearings for residents of the area to gauge input on the new facility.

“This is a chance for the people of the Southwest to let the Louisville Free Public Library know what our needs are for our children and others who will use this new branch,” says Councilman Rick Blackwell (D-12). “The Metro Council made the commitment to move our libraries forward and now we need your help to achieve that goal.”

The new Southwest Regional Library will be twice the size of the current facilities. It will be located in the 9900 block of Dixie Highway next to Meyer.

“The present branch is so crowded and we are patiently waiting for this new branch,” says Councilman Bob Henderson (D-14). “If you are a supporter of the libraries then come out to these public hearings and learn more about this project.”

Here are the times and locations for the hearings
