Okolona will usher in the holiday season when Santa arrives and the lights of the holiday shine brightly for this festive time of year.
"Light up Okolona is an event that we look forward to every year," says Councilwoman Madonna Flood (D) 24. "I love to see the expressions on the kids face when Santa arrives."
The event will get underway on Friday, November 16th from 5:45pm to 7:00pm at Lone Oak Park. Mark Lamkin, President of the Okolona Business and Professional Association, will join Flood in greeting Santa Claus during the festivities.
The Southern High School Concert Band will be playing holiday favorites. Students from Okolona Elementary will serenade the crowd with classic holiday favorites from years gone by.
Dancers from Stepping Out Studio will be performing. Then the Jolly Old Elf from the North Pole is expected around 6:30 to officially welcome in the yuletide.
"Everyone in Okolona has been good this year so Santa will have many names to add to his list,” says Flood. "I hope everyone will come and join us in bringing in the holiday season."
White Castle, Kip's Kove Fish and Wing's, The Metro Police Department District 7, the Okolona Fire Department and Interlink Counseling will also be participating in the fun.
