Councilman Tandy to sponsor Let's Roll Luncheon to highlight 'mobile community'

Fourth District Councilman David Tandy will sponsor a Let's Roll Luncheon for persons with electric scooters and chairs, to raise awareness of a mobile community seeking accessibility and celebrate the anniversary of Americans with Disabilities Act.

A wheelchair convoy of 30-40 electric scooters and chairs will caravan from Dosker Manor Circle, 413 E. Muhammad Ali Blvd., to Café Kilimanjaro, 649 S. 4th St., beginning at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, July 26.

The Dosker Manor community and many others have a significant number of persons with mobile disabilities. The Lets Roll Luncheon showcases the ability of these individuals to move about independently, and highlights their spending power by patronizing accessible businesses.

Councilman Tandy will kick off the caravan and join the group for lunch, which begins at 2 p.m.

In conjunction with the Let's Roll Luncheon, residents with disabilities who don't have motorized scooters are invited to a luncheon at 1:30 p.m. in the Dosker Manor Community Room. Information and literature from the Metro Disabilities Coalition will be available.
