Public Health and Wellness Offers Free Diabetes Classes

The Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness will hold a series of four free classes for individuals interested in learning about and managing diabetes. Classes begin Monday, October 1 at the South Louisville Community Center at 2911 Taylor Blvd.
Classes are free and attendance at the entire series of four classes is encouraged. All classes begin at 1:00 p.m. and end at 3:30 p.m. Phone 574-6663 for reservations or for more information. Class size is limited so please call to make a reservation. The class schedule is as follows:
October 1, Class 1, What is diabetes? Checking blood sugar. What types of food should I eat?
October 8, Class 2, What do I do when I am sick? What kinds of problems can diabetes cause? Learning about medications. How do I count carbohydrates?
October 15, Class 3, How can I stay healthy with diabetes? How do I read a label? What do I need to know about fat and salt?
October 22, Class 4, Taking care of my feet. Coping with diabetes. Keeping a healthy weight and staying active.
