Starting in June, Southwest Jefferson County will have a chance to buy farm fresh vegetables and fruits at Valley High School when a long awaited Farmers Market begins in the summer of 2008.
“The Southwest Farmers Market is something we have been working on for sometime and I am glad to see it is becoming a reality,” says Councilman Bob Henderson (D) 14. “Special thanks to Congressman John Yarmuth and his office for the help they have given to this effort.”
The Southwest Farmers Market opens for business on Saturday, June 7th from 8:00am to 12:00 Noon at Valley High School, 10200 Dixie Highway. The Market will open every Saturday through the fall growing season.
The Farmers Market Committee is looking for anyone who would like to participate in event.
“This is a chance to have great food and at the same time help local people who have a passion for growing good fruits and vegetables,” says Henderson. “It will be successful if we can find farmers and the folks who love farm fresh foods.”
