Shawnee/Portland Neighborhoods Livability Plan – Public Meeting - Feb. 28th
Tuesday February 21, 2012
Metro Parks and the Shawnee/Portland Livability project Advisory Committee will host a public meeting Tuesday, February 28, from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Shawnee Golf Course Clubhouse, 460 Northwestern Parkway.
Metro Parks will present a livability plan that provides recommendations on how to reduce barriers in Shawnee and Portland neighborhoods to residents being able to make healthier choices; barriers such as inadequate lighting, speeding traffic, and inadequate or poorly maintained sidewalks. It also includes recommendations on a detour for the Louisville Loop around flooded and eroded areas behind Portland Wharf Park and Shawnee Golf Course.
An advisory group, composed of Shawnee and Portland residents and Metro Government staff, has met several times in the last five months to provide input for this plan.
