Louisville – With spring time in the air, Councilwoman Tina Ward-Pugh says it’s time for volunteers to put on their work duds for the annual spring time maintenance to focus on Lexington Road this coming Saturday, March 9th. It is part of the continuing sustainability efforts in the Ninth District to value the native habitat by working to preserve and enhance it.
“With our commitment to the environment through our Green Triangle initiative, we must be vigilant in our maintenance of the progress volunteers have already made,” says Ward-Pugh. “Traveling on Lexington Road between Top Hill and Cross Hill Roads, it is easy to see the results of our efforts over the past four years.”
The volunteers will maintain the area with planting, weeding and general cleanup between Top Hill Road and Cross Hill Road. Volunteers should arrive and be ready to begin work at 8:30am, and will finish around 11:00 am. Gloves, tools and Louisville PureTap water will be provided. Please bring your own reusable water bottle to fill up.
“Please come out and join us for this special spring cleaning along Lexington Road. The effort will complement the entrance to Cherokee Park and will be the last opportunity to spruce up the area before Derby,” says Ward-Pugh.
