Louisville – For more than 80 years, it is one of the largest local festivals in Metro Louisville focusing on community pride bringing over 20,000 visitors to the Fairdale area for a weekend in September.

“It is going to be a great fair this year,” says Councilwoman Vicki Aubrey Welch (D-13). “Besides the fun and spirit of our great community, the Health Expo has some important information for anyone who wants to live a healthier lifestyle. It’s also a chance to check out our New Cut Trolley Hop.”

The Fairdale Community Fair begins on Friday, Sept. 7th at 5:00pm until 11:00pm with various booths, carnival rides and delicious fair food wagons. On Saturday, Sept. 8th the festivities start with the "Fair -E - Tales" Parade at 12:00pm. The parade begins at Fairdale High School and makes its way through town to end at the Fairdale Elementary School. The 82nd Annual Fairdale Community Fair highlights the return of the District 13 Health Expo and a chance to experience the New Cut Road Trolley Hop.

“I am pleased to bring the District 13 Health Expo back to the fair as a way of helping people learn how to protect their health and the health of their family,” says Welch. “Prevention is a key in fighting diseases such as diabetes high blood pressure, and cancer.”

The District 13 Health Expo will run from 2:00pm to 6:00pm in the old library space of the Fairdale Playtorium. The Health Expo will offer FREE health information and screenings.

Various health vendors will be on hand to offer free blood pressure, blood glucose, bone density, pulmonary functioning tests, vision screenings and more! There will also be a flu shot clinic which accepts Medicare or a $25.99 cash payment.

Fairgoers will also have a chance to see the New Cut Trolley Hop which will run Saturday Sept. 8th from 10:00am to 4:00pm. One trolley will be in the Parade and the other three will have an alternate route during the parade from 12 to1pm.

Since its kick off in July, the Trolley Hop’s goal is to showcase some of South and Southwest Louisville’s best attractions and one of Fairdale’s most popular community events. Fairgoers can hop off the trolley at the Fairdale Library and make their way to the grounds of the Fairdale Playtorium

It is FREE to ride the trolley. Just board from 10am-4pm at any designated TARC or Trolley Stop. It runs from Iroquois Amphitheater to Jefferson Memorial Forest with stops at nearly 40 landmarks, restaurants and attractions including Little Loomhouse, the Auburndale and Outer Loop shopping areas and the Fairdale Library.

“So come and join us for a fun weekend,” says Welch.
