Marathon Runner to Honor Veterans

Louisville, KY; In commemoration of  Veterans Day, Louisville resident Brad Alsop will run 26.2 miles while flying a 5 by 8 foot American flag as part of the 5th annual Patriots Peace Marathon. The marathon will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Jefferson Memorial Forest Welcome Center (11311 Mitchell Hill Road) and will conclude at approximately 4:00 p.m. when the flag reaches the Patriots Peace Memorial (3742 River Road) The flag used during the marathon will be handed and then folded ceremoniously by members of the United States Marine Corps. Metro Councilman Ken Fleming (District 7) will then surprise a war veteran by presenting him with the folded flag. 

Additional Information:
The public is invited to attend the flag folding ceremony at the Patriots Peace Memorial (3742 River Road) at 4:30 p.m. on Veterans Day.
Brad Alsop will be available at the Jefferson Memorial Forest at 10:30 a.m. prior to his run for interviews and will also be available after completion of his marathon for persons seeking an interview.
