Before summer vacation is over, students at Field Elementary will have one more task before heading to school this year. They plan on making sure Eastover Park continues to be a place to play.
“The PTA and Students of Field Elementary are just one of many groups that want to contribute to the community by taking care of something we all enjoy; our Metro Parks,” says Councilwoman Tina Ward-Pugh (D-9). “I am happy to partner with them in any way I can.”
The Field PTA and other volunteers will cleanup Eastover Park on Saturday, August 1st from 9:00am to Noon. The one acre park is located on Sacred Heart Lane off Frankfort Avenue.
Ward-Pugh is providing coffee, breakfast, bags and gloves for the cleanup.
“I recently met with the staff at Field and other government agencies to talk about the park’s upkeep,” says Ward-Pugh. “The great thing about that meeting was Field Elementary taking the initiative to schedule a cleanup. I hope this effort will become an annual Back To School Event in the future.”
