Councilwoman Vicki Aubrey Welch (D-13) has invited the Louisville Metro Police Department and Jefferson County Attorney Mike O’Connell to join her for the next “Coffee with your Councilwoman” on Saturday, April 10th in District 13.

“If we want to keep our communities safe, then it is very important that we know who the men and women are who serve in our Police Department,” says Welch. “It is also important to meet the elected official who oversees prosecution of criminals in our community.”

The District 13 “Coffee with your Councilwoman” will begin at 9:00am at First String Family Sports Grill, 5921 New Cut Road.

“In the last few months, LMPD began an increased presence in the Fairdale area by opening a District 13 Substation at the Fairdale Resource Center in Hornbeck Park on Fairdale Rd.” says Welch. “This allows less travel time for officers to patrol our district and then use this substation instead of the SW Government Center for paperwork and roll calls.”

Councilwoman Welch recently appropriated $5,000 from her Neighborhood Funds for LMPD to be used for crime prevention, education and overtime as needed.

O’Connell will be on hand to answer questions about Child Support, Traffic, DUI, Felony/Misdemeanor and any other questions regarding Jefferson Co. District Courts.

“The County Attorney and I recently worked together on the concept of separate court dockets for domestic violence cases,” says Welch. “It is a partnership that is working toward making our community safer.”
