Councilman Bob Henderson (D) 14 has announced a workshop for senior citizens of the district to help them with applications for a discount for the MSD proposed rate increase.
“We will have staff available to help anyone through this process,” says Henderson. “I want to make sure that people who are eligible for the discount know that it’s available.”
The workshop will be held on Monday, August 20th at the Sun Valley Community Center from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Senior citizens need to bring four items with them when they apply for the discount. Staff will help fill out applications, make copies and forward those to MSD. The four items are: a previous water company bill, proof of income, proof of residency and proof of age.
Those who come to the workshop but can not complete the application that day will receive a follow up meeting until the forms are complete.
“We are here to help,” says Henderson. “My office does not want this to become a difficult process.”
There will also be a free Living Will Clinic provided on the same day for low income seniors and persons with a disability. The Clinic is designed to provide life planning documents such as a Last Will & Testament, Power of Attorney, Health Care Surrogate and Living will.
Assistance will be provided by the Louisville Legal Aid Society.
