Councilwoman Vicki Aubrey Welch (D-13)has announced the Breast Cancer Screening and Woman’s Health Fair will get underway on Friday, February 20th. The event had been postponed last month because of the ice storm that hit the Metro Louisville area.
"I want to let everyone who had signed up for these very important screenings that we are ready to help you with a healthier life style,” says Welch, who is also a professional nurse. “We are planning to move forward with the health fair as well.”
The Breast Cancer Screening Clinic will be held at its original announced location of the Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Church, 903 Fairdale Road from 8:30 am to 3:30pm. The University of Louisville Hospital and the James Graham Brown Cancer Center will conduct Mammograms for women age 40 and older.
The Women’s Health Fair will conduct additional health screenings for women by Norton Healthcare such as: blood sugar, blood pressure and bone density. Passport Health Plan and Passport Advantage will be on hand for information on KCHIP and their Medicare Advantage programs.
"These last few weeks have been trying for many people,” says Welch. “This Health Fair is an easy less stressful way to get some valuable information about a deadly disease and a chance to talk to professional about other ways to improve your lifestyle”.
