Councilwoman Cheri Bryant Hamilton invites residents of District 5 to decorate their front doors for the holidays, as part of the first annual Light Up District 5 door-decorating contest.

To participate, residents should register with Councilwoman Hamilton's office by Wednesday, Dec. 8, and decorate their front door by Saturday, Dec. 18. Doors will be judged by members of the District 5 Neighborhoods Committee the weekend of Dec. 18. Prizes will be awarded to the best-decorated doors in the Portland, Russell, Shawnee and Chickasaw neighborhoods of District 5 during a District 5 holiday party at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21 at the Shawnee Golf Course Clubhouse, 460 Northwestern Parkway.

"This is an excellent opportunity for residents to get creative, celebrate the spirit of the season and show their pride in their neighborhood," Councilwoman Hamilton said.
