The Newburg Youth Council is ready along with other volunteers to hit the streets as part of “Clean up Newburg Day” in conjunction with the Brightside Community Wide Cleanup on Saturday, March 26th.
“Every year, young people in our area come forward to give a little something back to our community,” says Councilwoman Barbara Shanklin (D-2). “Like the rest of us, they have pride in their community and want to see it clean and safe
The Community Missionary Baptist Church, 4909 East Indian Trail will be the gathering point for volunteers. Breakfast snacks will be provided before the cleanup starts beginning at 7:30am. The cleanup will get underway at 8:00 am when volunteers fan out across the area to go after trash in lots and on street corners. The cleanup will wrap up at 12:00 pm. After the cleanup, lunch will be served to all volunteers who came out to help.
“Every year, we have fun and get an amazing amount of litter off our streets,” says Shanklin. “We have many good volunteers but I want to encourage anyone who has never come out to join us to do so this year. It’s spring time! Shake off the winter and come out and join us.”
