Councilwoman Hamilton announces the return of the District 5 Friday Night Film Festival for the summer of 2013

Louisville –With summer just around the corner, Councilwoman Cheri Bryant Hamilton announces the return of a great fun, family event when the District 5 “Free Friday Night Film Festival in the Park” gets underway in District 5 on Friday, June 21st in Chickasaw Park.

“This year, the Free Friday Night Film Festival in the Park will bring movies to several area neighborhoods in District 5,” says Hamilton. “This is a great way to enjoy a Friday night in the summer and best of all its free.”

“Wreck it Ralph”, the 2012 Disney Animated film kicks off this year’s event. It tells the story of an arcade game villain who rebels against his past and dreams of becoming a hero. Traveling between games in the arcade he calls home, he ultimately must eliminate a dire threat that could affect the entire arcade, and one that Ralph himself inadvertently started.

The film features the voices of John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer, and Jane Lynch.

The Free Friday Night Film Festival in the park will also do some traveling to District 5 neighborhoods this summer. Movies will be presented in Chickasaw, Shawnee, Elliott and Jewell Parks

“This is a very successful event and this year we want to bring the fun to as many people and families as we can,” says Hamilton. “Come out and join us, bring a lawn chair, picnic basket and insect repellent. It is a great opportunity to enjoy your friends and family to enjoy our Metro Parks.”

The film begins at dusk in Chickasaw Park and will be located on the Parkway side of the Park. Details of other films through the summer will be announced.
