With Spring Break close at hand, Councilman Brent Ackerson is partnering with officers in the Sixth Division of Louisville Metro Police to ensure the week is a safe one for residents in District 26.

“While it is a time of vacationing out of town for many, for others there will be increased activity at home and in our community. More traffic, younger folks in the streets and on the sidewalks, more things to do in the free time afforded by the break,” says Ackerson. “Police tell us this is also the time for a possible increase in crime, with a few more people having a lot more time on their hands.”

The Councilman will provide from the District 26 Neighborhood Development Funds a pool of money to add additional officers in these times of need, beginning with additional patrols in District 26 during Spring Break week.

The funding will allow for increased patrols to monitor activity in neighborhoods as well as increased traffic on streets in the area.

“We feel this is an effective use of these funds and helping the police do their work is important for all of us,” says Ackerson. “We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Spring Break.”

Sixth Division Officers are also calling on residents to keep an eye out for anything that may be viewed as suspicious. The Sixth Division phone number is 574-2187. For those in the City of Saint Matthews, your Police Department can be reached at 895-9444.

For more information, contact Councilman Ackerson’s office at 574-1126.
