The officers who patrol from Crescent Hill to the Original Highlands will open their doors on Tuesday night August 4th to let resident know how they can help fight crime and keep the streets safe.
Council members Tom Owen (D-8) and Tina Ward-Pugh (D-9) are hopeful many will take Metro Police up on the invitation.
“Make no mistake, crime happens everywhere in Metro Louisville,” says Owen. “Everyone should be aware of what goes around them when it comes to keeping an eye out for crime.”
“Our Districts have a great partnership with the officers of the Metro police’s Fifth Division. We meet on a regular basis to talk about concerns in the area,” says Ward-Pugh. “National Night Out is a chance for everyone to talk with police about ways to make all of us safer.”
The Fifth Divisions will host a cook out at its offices, 2301 Douglas Boulevard beginning at 6:00pm.
Among the displays will be information about Crime Prevention and Kid Identification Kits.
“The most important thing though is to talk with the LMPD,” says Owen. “One of the best ways to fight crime is to let officers know what is going in a neighborhood.”
