Congress Alley is now closed at Sixth Street as repairs begin on the fire escape at Historic City Hall. Construction crews are planning to remove the old fire escape and replace it with a new one.
The public should be advised that all entrances to City Hall will remain open for meetings of the Metro Council and other agencies of Metro Government.
Construction to install a new fire escape for City Hall at the Corner of 6th Street and Congress Alley is expected to conclude by January 15, 2012. The Seventh Street Entrance to Congress Alley will remain open during that time for those with designated parking spaces.
We apologize for the inconvenience but replacement of the fire escape is a safety priority and must be completed
Thank you for your cooperation.
