Education issues in the Jefferson County Public Schools will be the topic of discussion when Councilwoman Vicki Aubrey Welch (D-13) hosts the March “Coffee with your Councilwoman” on Saturday the 19th.

“I am pleased to give parents a chance to discuss important issues in education here in Metro Louisville,” says Welch. “We will get an update on the search for a new superintendent as well as other important changes being considered for our schools.”

Linda Duncan, the District 5 Representative on the Jefferson County Board of Education, will be the featured guest at the event. She will be available to answer questions on how the Board will proceed in finding a replacement for Dr. Sheldon Berman.

“I know many times parents may not get as many chances as they would like to talk one on one with the people who are in charge of teaching our children,” says Welch. “Many education issues are being considered by the General Assembly in Frankfort that will affect us right here. This is a chance to learn more about those issues.”

The March District 13 “Coffee with your Councilwoman” gets under way at 9:00 am at the First String Family Sports Grill, 5921 New Cut Road. Coffee is free for those who come out to talk. Breakfast may be purchased at a reasonable cost.

The Councilwoman also encourages residents to come out and talk about any concern or issues in their neighborhood or Metro Louisville.

“This is an open opportunity to talk with me one on one,” says Welch. “My staff and I are ready to help or get an answer for any question or problem.”
