Councilwoman Tina Ward- Pugh (D) 9 announces a special “Open House” for Clifton/ Crescent Hill residents to learn the latest on the Quiet Zone project.
“The Quiet Zone work group is ready to move forward with a plan that will maintain safety and satisfy federal requirements,” says Ward-Pugh. “We have a solution that appears to be cost effective and the least disruptive to neighborhoods.”
The Quiet Zone “Open House” will be held at the Clifton Center, 2117 Payne Street in the Reception Hall from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Officials will be on hand to answer any questions.
This year, Metro Government is expected to implement changes required by the Federal Railroad Administration Quiet Zone guidelines requiring railroad crossings. The new guidelines emphasize crossing gates and concrete barriers that ensure safety.
The Work Group is in the process of reviewing many plans which call for medians installed along certain areas of Frankfort Avenue, the closing of two crossings and one set of new gates installed.
“We believe a cost effective solution is very realistic and we have received commitments from Metro Public to make many of these changes a priority,” says Ward-Pugh. “This Open House is a chance for everyone to see the proposed plans and understand the alternative if nothing is done.”
