Louisville – With summer coming to an end, Councilman David James (D-6) and the California Neighborhood will come together to host what has become a tradition for one of Metro Louisville oldest and established neighborhoods.
California Community Day is set for Saturday, August 31st at California Park.
“This is always a special event for the California Neighborhood and it is a chance for residents to come together for fun, music and the chance to sit back and enjoy an August weekend,” says James. “It is always an honor to be a sponsor of such a special day for the people of the California Neighborhood.”
California Community Day will have fun activities for the kids and families with inflatable games, basketball and tennis available. This year’s festivities get under way from 11:00am until 6:00pm. The day will include musical entertainment by local singer Kimberly Coleman and the Unlimited Band. All events are free and open to the public.
Food trucks will also be available during the day. Walgreens, Planned Parenthood, the Network Center for Community Change (NC3) and Norton’s Healthcare will have information booths available on various programs and services.
“The people of this neighborhood invite everyone to come out and join them for this event,” says James. “When neighbors take the time to get to know each other and talk, then we will see safer neighborhoods. The California Neighborhood is always willing to work with my office to promote events that bring communities closer together.”
California Park is located at 1104 South 16th Street.
