A weekend of fun cars and motorcycles will help on local agency continue its work for adults with developmental disabilities. The Southwest Center is once again holding its “Weekend Extravaganza” on Saturday, October 11th and Sunday, October 12th.

“The Southwest Center is a true public service to this part of Metro Louisville,” says Councilman Bob Henderson (D-14). “This is a fun way to support their dedicated work and have some fun at the same time.”

The “Weekend Extravaganza” begins on Saturday with the Ride for Independence Poker Run. Registration starts at 10:00am. The cost is $15 per hand and $5 for an extra card. The Ride begins at 12:00pm.

Then on Sunday, the 4th Annual Open Rod Run gets underway from 12:00pm to 6:00pm. It is sponsored by Scott’s Jr. Interior, Elite Performance and Electric and Rodger’s Body Shop. The cost to enter is $10 per car.

All events will be held at the Southwest Center, 8009 Terry Road.

The Southwest Center was founded in 1982 as a nonprofit agency. It offers a variety of programs for onsite jobs and off site employment opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities.

“The Center is an agency that offers services to many people who want to be part of our community,” says Henderson. “Our support of these events will go a long way in helping the Center achieve that goal.”
