Many in Metro Louisville are aware the holiday season is fast approaching and Newburg-Petersburg Park is preparing to throw the festive switch for “Light Up Newburg”, on Saturday, December 4th.

“The park takes on a wonderful holiday feel with this event and I everyone in the Newburg, Norfolk and surrounding communities to come out and help us to bring in the holiday season,” says Councilwoman Barbara Shanklin (D-2) who is sponsoring this event.

“Light Up Newburg” will be held from 6:00P.M. to 8:00 P. M. at Newburg-Petersburg Park located at the corner of East Indian Trail and Petersburg Roads.

Santa & Mrs. Claus will be on hand to listen to children’s holiday wishes for Christmas. Ten bicycles will be given away; along with other prizes, and refreshments will be provided. Children must be present to win the giveaways.

“This is the time of year when the hustle and bustle can be hectic so we have music and fun planned,” says Shanklin. “We also want to bring some cheer to children in our area which is another way to enjoy the beauty of the season.”
