Metro Councilman Heiner to Host Dedication Ceremony and Meeting on Future of Miles Park

Louisville, KY; On Saturday, September 25 at 9:30 a.m. Metro Councilman Hal Heiner (District 19) will host a dedication ceremony and a community meeting on the future of Miles Park, located at 15712 Shelbyville Road.

The informational meeting is being held to give residents an update on the transition of Miles Park from being managed by Metro Parks to its inclusion in 21st Century Parks. Metro Parks Director Mike Heitz, 21st Century Parks Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Dan Jones, Metro Councilmen Hal Heiner (District 19) and Stuart Benson (District 20) along with descendants of the park’s namesake, William Miles, expected to attend.

The dedication of a sitting area and tulip poplar tree in honor of Mr. William “Bill” Adkins will immediately follow the informational meetings. The dedication will honor Mr. Adkins, who was a founding member of the Miles Park Community Garden and an active member of the Blackacre Community Garden prior to the creation of the Miles Park garden program. The dedication ceremony will include comments by Councilmen Hal Heiner, Stuart Benson and Dan Jones.

*In the event of inclement weather, the informational meeting will be moved to the Eastwood Fire Station (16010 Shelbyville Road) with the dedication taking place at Miles Park after the brief meeting concludes.
