Councilman Rick Blackwell will sponsor a 12th District Spring Cleanup beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 26. Volunteers should meet in the parking lot of PRP Fire Department, 8201 Greenwood Road.

The cleanup will also serve as a fundraising opportunity for area non-profit organizations. The organization with the most volunteers that morning will be awarded $750 for first place, with organizations having the second and third-most volunteers earning $500 and $300, respectively.

"This gives us the opportunity to spruce up our neighborhoods, and let non-profit organizations earn money for good causes," Blackwell said.

Tools, gloves and plastic bags will be provided by Brightside.

Councilman Blackwell funded the awards with an appropriation from the 12th District Neighborhood Development Funds.

For more information, interested groups can contact Councilman Blackwell's office at 574-1112.
