It will be one last summer event, to honor those who have served their community and at the same time a chance for fun, food and entertainment in Shawnee Park.

“The District 5 Community celebration is just another way of saying thank you to the people who have made this District a special place to live,” says Councilwoman Cheri Bryant Hamilton (D) 5.

The Celebration will kick off at 2:00pm on Saturday. September 8th and continue until dusk in Shawnee Park.

It is an event that will include an arts & Crafts fair, food vendors and music. Among the groups scheduled to perform; the Georgia Mass Choir, Old School Band, 4U and other local groups.

A highlight of the celebration will be the presentation of the Molly Leonard Service Awards to honor District 5 residents who have served the community.

“We have a distinguished group of recipients who continue to make a difference in all of our lives by their selflessness in community,” says Hamilton. “We want to make sure everyone knows who these fine people are and why we are saying thank you to them.”
