With limited summer employment opportunities available for young people, the call is going out for youth in District 1 to apply and become members of the 2010 Green Clean Team.
“This is our third year for this program and I believe it is a chance to help many young people earn money for the summer doing while working to help keep our community clean,” says Councilwoman Judith Green (D-1). “This is a program designed to help young people enter the working world.”
This year’s Green Clean Team will take applications and conduct interview over a two day period.
On Wednesday, June 30th, youth between the ages of 14 and 18 will be able to apply for positions as part of the Green Clean Team at 3050 West Broadway. Those applications can be filled out in the basement of the location beginning at 11:00am.
Then on Thursday, July 1st at the same location, interviews will be conducted between 11:00 and 5:00pm.
Anyone who is interested in being part of the team must apply. That includes anyone who was part of last year’s Green Clean Team.
“We know that summer jobs for young people have gotten scarce in this economy,” says Green. “It is my hope that those young people in need will take advantage of this chance for employment.”
In the past, Green Clean Teams have focused on cleaning up areas of District 1 by picking up trash along alley ways and streets as well as other beautification projects. Money for the program was provided in the FY 2011 Budget for Metro Louisville.
