Starts new role January 1
Mayor Greg Fischer today named veteran city employee O’Dell Henderson as Metro Government’s lead liaison to the city’s labor unions.
Henderson, who began his career in city government in 2003 when he joined Public Works and Assets, has been working in labor relations for six years, helping negotiate union contracts.
“O’Dell has deep experience in labor issues and he has the wide respect of labor unions that have worked with him,” Fischer said. “He’s been both a worker and a manager and he knows both sides of labor issues.”
Henderson said he is looking forward to his new role.
“I am honored by the mayor’s appointment,” Henderson said. “I enjoy working with the labor leadership to help negotiate union contracts that are fair to workers and fair to city taxpayers.”
Henderson earned a bachelor’s from Morehead State and is a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked for Louisville Water Co for many years prior to joining city government in 2003, where he served as Director of Facilities Management overseeing the city’s physical properties.
Henderson replaces Mark Miller, the city’s labor liaison who died suddenly last year.
