Residents and neighborhood leaders are being encouraged to attend a special community wide meeting hosted by Councilwoman Cheri Bryant Hamilton (D) 5 on Tuesday, January 8th.
The topic for discussion is an update on the special wet-dry election and the
on-going litigation following the vote on September 11th of last year.
“We want everyone to know what the latest information is regarding the vote which banned alcohol sales in four precincts in our district,” says Hamilton. “I want to invite residents, community groups and ministers interested in this election to come out to this meeting.”
The meeting will be held at the Spirit of Love Center, 4107 West Market Street beginning at 6:30pm.
On September 11th, 2007 voters in precincts N104, N105, N107 and N109 overwhelmingly voted to go dry in their precincts. Litigation followed the vote and as a result, a temporary injunction that has kept the voters decisions from going into effect.
“I do not want anyone who has been involved in this process to be discouraged and we want to make sure everyone knows the direction we are moving in and what the next steps will be,” says Hamilton
