Louisville – It is a tradition begun as away to bring everyone together to learn about issues and the community.
It was started by Willie Bright.
“For those of us, who work and live in the 4th District during the time Councilman Bright served this community, we had an opportunity to witness on a daily basis the dedication and compassion he had for his constituents, “says Councilman David Tandy (D) 4.
On Saturday, September 30th Tandy will continue the tradition by hosting the Annual Willie B. Bright 4th District Barbeque. The event will be held in Shelby Park from 12:00pm to 3:00pm.
“Whether you were the President of a major corporation, the president of a neighborhood association, or a citizen with a concern, everyone was treated with the same level of professionalism and respect with regard to their issues,” remembers Tandy
Bright was a Louisville businessman who did much for the community in the Shelby Park and Clarkdale area. He began the event the same year he was elected as one of the original Metro Council members elected in 2002.
He died in 2005.
“The purpose of the annual barbeque is to provide an opportunity for people from all across the 4th District to come together in a fun, social setting. Through this interaction with each other we can begin the process of working together to find solutions to the common problems we face in our community,” says Tandy.
The event is free and open to residents of the District and Metro Louisville.
