Metro Public Works is moving forward with the conversion of First and Brook Streets from one way to two ways. The change is scheduled to take place over the weekend of Friday, July 29th.
“This will be a busy weekend for people who live along these streets and I ask for their patience as the crews make this change over,” says Councilman David James (D-6). “Hopefully, the change will not cause any major problems for those who live in the area.”
Beginning on Friday at around 7:00pm, parking on First and Brook will be restricted as crews can begin the necessary striping for changing one way to two way. The Striping process is expected to last up until midnight.
Councilman James will be going door to door during the week to make sure residents are aware of the upcoming work. The striping work will begin on 1st Street and Brook Street, both from College to Hill Street, should be completed by Saturday morning. Crews will also change all overhead signs, intersection signs and signals for two way traffic this night as well.
“The end result will be slower traffic in this neighborhood and safer streets for the streets, so I again want to thank everyone for their cooperation in getting this completed,” says James.
