Councilwoman Mary C. Woolridge (D-3) will be on hand when the 13th Annual Shively Independence Festival kicks off this coming weekend Friday, June 25th and Saturday June 26th at Shively Park.
“The City of Shively, area businesses and local groups do a wonderful job every year of providing great entertainment,” says Woolridge. “I can think of no better way to welcome the summer with some good old fashion fun at the Shively Festival.”
The Festival begins at 6:00pm on Friday at Shively Park with vendors and amusement rides open to the public. Friday will also feature a dog show tournament and the Blind Draw Horseshoes Amateur Tournament.
On Saturday morning, the Shively Lions Club will host its famous Pancake Breakfast at Shively City Hall. Its $5.00 per person and all proceeds go to the humanitarian work on the Lions Club in the Shively area.
“The Shively Lions Club does great volunteer work throughout our community,” says Woolridge. “The Pancake Breakfast is a wonderful way to show support for their work and it is a good meal for the price.”
On Saturday, the Festival kicks off at 12:00pm and features a Cornhole Tournament, the Louisville Poker Tournament, a Dessert Bake off and a Photo Contest. There will be music and fun throughout the afternoon and a fireworks show at night.
“So please come out and have a good time while you support the 2010 Shively Festival,” says Woolridge. “I will see you there.”
