Metro Parks and Recreation Offers New Girls Softball Program

Metro Parks and Recreation Athletics will offer a free six-week softball program for girls ages 8 to 13, starting September 4 at Wyandotte Park.
The Reds Recreational Softball Success League (RRSSL), modeled after the Reds Rookies Success (baseball) league, will provide a high-quality, educational, rewarding and engaging experience, designed to not only teach and improve athletic skills, but to encourage a sense of empowerment and positive life-learning in each young female athlete.
RRSSL will meet Wednesdays, from 5:30–7:30 p.m., starting September 4 through October 9. Girls will be coached on the fundamentals, skills and strategies of competitive softball. Guest speakers and Saturday field trips to prominent softball/baseball and recreation organizations in Louisville are also part of the program.
Registration begins tonight, with a sign-up night being held Wednesday, August 28 at Wyandotte Park, from 5:30–7:30 p.m. Registrations will be accepted until September 11 and can be made by contacting the Metro Parks Athletics Office at (502) 456-8173.For more information:
