Mission
Improve the status of all women in Louisville Metro by developing and maintaining partnerships throughout the community and participating as a leader in women's issues.
The Overarching Purpose of the Office For Women is to serve as a catalyst for

Serve as a liaison between local government and the community
Echo and amplify the voices of all women in our community
Increase the community’s understanding and use of research as a way to improve women’s status
Represent women in our community throughout the continuum of their lives
Emphasize cultural competence in services and information provided to women
Improve awareness and knowledge regarding issues that impact women in our community
Increase women’s participation in all aspects of government
Improve and facilitate access to community resources—governmental and non-governmental—that serve the needs of women and girls in our community
Foster and enhance collaboration, coordination and communication among the various entities working to improve women’s status in our community
Impact and develop policy that affects women’s lives in an evidence-based approach
Play a leading role in implementing the goals and objectives of the Benchmark 2000 Study

Encourage and promote a work environment that is safe, supportive, and responsive to women employees
Play a role in increasing women’s representation in all aspects of local government
Serve as a resource and advocate for Louisville Metro government employees on issues such as workplace safety, sexual harassment, hiring and promotion of women and minorities, training opportunities for women, and family-friendly policies.
